Course Description: The Basic Pistol Course is a one-day course that includes both a classroom component and live fire exercises on the range. The Basic Pistol Course is designed for the beginning shooter as well as anyone who may have some experience with a handgun, but has never learned the fundamentals of handgun marksmanship.

Lesson 3: Fire Arms Cleaning and Storage

• Clean Fire Arms in Teams of 2 People

Lesson 4: Pistol Selection & Opportunities for Skill Development

• Accessories Selection
• Clubs and Competitions
• Scoring Targets

Lesson 5: Defensive Shooting and Qualification Shoot

• Shooting From the Two-handed Standing Positions
• Live Fire Drills from the Compressed Ready
• Live Fire Qualification

Upon completion of this firearms training course, the student will possess the fundamental skills necessary to participate in the Basic Defensive Pistol Course.

Requirements:

• Must be 21 years of age & possess a valid Illinois FOID card
• Notepad and Pen
• Eye and Ear Protection
• Crew-neck Type Shirt
• Lose-fitting (preferably "tactical") Trousers
• Closed-toe (preferably "tactical") Foot-wear
• Baseball/Operator Type Hat
• Heavy (gun/operator) Belt
• Holster and Magazine Carriers
• Personal Defense Semi-automatic Pistol
• Three (3) Hi-capacity Magazines Minimum
• Handgun Cleaning Kit and Gun Oil/CLP
• 100 rounds (minimum) of Ammunition
